Student Research Opportunities

There are many research opportunities available for IAS students to present and publish their work, including research funding, student conferences, and student journals.

Student Research Funding

Research Grant

The Undergraduate Research Office at Utah Tech University offers students a grant of $250 for Research, Innovation, and Creative Projects.

Eligible expenses include direct costs related to carrying out the proposed project, such as materials, supplies, facilities and instrument costs, accompanists, and participation/survey fees.

Travel Grant

The Undergraduate Research Office at Utah Tech University offers students a Travel Grant of $500 for Research, Innovation, and Creative Projects.

Eligible expenses for projects include direct costs related to carrying out the proposed project such as attending academic conferences (including registration fees, travel, lodging, and associated per diem expenses) to present their work to a wider audience; to interact with collaborators on their research, innovative, or creative project; or to access off-site locations to collect data or other information from necessary locations.

UTSA Grants

UTSA Senators can sponsor bills to aid students in receiving funding for academic research, conferences, and other educational pursuits. IAS students should contact the UTSA Senator for the College of Education for more information!

Student Conferences

UCUR

The Utah Conference on Undergraduate Research takes place every February at a rotating series of Utah universities. Submissions are typically due in September.

Utah Academy

The Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters holds a conference each March at a Utah university. The Academy also publishes a refereed journal for student work. Submissions are typically due in February.

UT Symposium

Utah Tech University’s Undergraduate Research Office puts on a Symposium for Innovation, Creativity, and Research each April. Submissions are typically due in April.

Student Journals

Intersections

Intersections is published twice a year by the Integrated Studies Department at Utah Valley University. The journal is written, edited, and designed by UVU students. It accepts work from students in all Utah interdisciplinary programs.

Curiosity

Curiosity is published each spring by Utah Tech University’s Undergraduate Research Office.
